Paz de Cristo
Every quarter, City of Grace takes an evening to prepare and serve a meal to the homeless community at Paz de Cristo soup kitchen. This service opportunity always falls on a Tuesday evening from 4pm – 7:30pm. Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire period. Our next scheduled date is: Tuesday, January 31st.
iHelpCity of Grace partners with churches around the Valley to provide temporary food and shelter for women in need.
We are looking for volunteers to prepare 15 sack lunches. We are also receiving donations of water bottles and snacks for the women.
English as a Second Language (ESL)Start Date: TBD
We are currently looking for a certified instructor for ESL who can also help with curriculum. Classes are typically offered on Monday evenings to assist adults from the community learn English conversation skills.
We also need ESL volunteers to be table conversationalists. You do not need to know a second language or have English teaching experience in order to participate. If you speak English, you are qualified!
Tutoring at Grace (TAG)Second Semester Start Date: January 30th
Tutoring at Grace provides educational assistance to local elementary school students. One-on-one tutors help local elementary school children improve basic reading and math skills. TAG runs for two semesters during the school year. The first is September through early December and the second is January through April. Each semester typically consists of ten tutoring sessions. Tutors can participate for one semester or both. No experience is required just a desire to meet and build relationships with younger children. Mondays, 6pm-7:30pm.
Miracle League of Arizona (MLAZ)The Miracle League of Arizona is a volunteer based program dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable baseball experience for children and adults with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. The MLAZ teams play on a custom designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other devices. MLAZ is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other kids. To help the players, MLAZ uses a "buddy system" - pairing each player with an able-bodied volunteer.

DONATIONS NEEDEDUnable to volunteer at this time but are still wanting to help out the community? We are in need of donations for our food bags to help families in need.
The (only) items we are looking for at this time are:
Spaghetti Noodles, Spaghetti Sauce (plastic jars), Macaroni & Cheese, Tuna, Canned Green Beans, Canned Soup, Canned Fruit, Peanut Butter (plastic jars), Jelly (plastic jars) and Instant Oatmeal.
You can drop these items off at the Mesa Campus church office anytime during the week, Monday - Thursday, 8am to 4:30pm.
