Blankets for Malawi
In 2006 some of our Global Adventures Team members were in ministering in a village in Malawi when they asked the village chief "If you could have anything, what would you wish for?" His response was simple, "blankets for my people."
In his village, most of the homes have dirt floors and no beds. People sleep on the floor or on a woven mat. In the dry season, the temperatures drop down into the 30s and the villagers have no blankets to stay warm. So, this was his simple wish - to provide the homes in his village with blankets. We want to make his dream come true.
In 2007 City of Grace teams through the ministry of Somebody Cares Malawi were able to provide 3,000blanket/towel combinations in 3 villages around Lilongwe, Malawi. Our goal in 2008 is to provide at least another 2,000 blanket/towel combinations at $10 per set to be delivered to the poorest of the poor in additional communities served by Somebody Cares. The blankets will be purchased in Malawi and distributed by Global Adventure teams in May and June. Blankets will provide comfort and warmth for villagers during the cold, winter nights. Towels will be used by children to get a shower in the Children of Promise Centers in these communities.
